TikTok star and hospital technician Leonardo Gil killed in hit and run

TikToker and hospital technician Leonardo Gil has died following a hit and run.

Gil, 34, was leaving his shift atHialeah Hospital in Florida on Tuesday when the car accident happened.

The social media star with over 100,000 followers was riding home on his motorcycle at around 9:30pm local time when he was hit by an SUV.

The car was taking a left turn at the intersection of East 8th Avenue and 21st Street in Hialeah, according to a GoFundMe set up to cover funeral and memorial costs, which has now reached over $40,000 (£29,800)

Gil’s aunt, Katiuska Fernandez, told 7News Miami that her nephew was lying on the ground until a passerby found him and called the emergency services.

The hospital worker was then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The family’s fundraiser says they were ‘not prepared for the loss of this loving, kind, selfless young man.’

‘He leaves behind a big, loving, united family, including his young son,’ they shared.

Police confirmed that Gil was travelling south when the vehicle turned in front of him, with NBC Miami reporting that the driver did not give Gil ‘an opportunity to even attempt to stop.’

Surveillance footage of the collision shows the offending vehicle turned just three seconds before the motorcyclist entered the intersection.

Police confirm that the driver ‘could be facing some very serious charges.’

Gil’s niece Delia Acosta said her uncle had only had his motorcycle for around three months before his death.

‘We are just devastated because you never expect something like this to happen,’ she said.

She added that their family is ‘very close’ and Gil was ‘my family’s everything.’
