Ulrika Jonsson has slammed Tony Adams' claim that he turned her down, as she said she's "never even met the guy."
Strictly Come Dancing star Tony, 56, first made the claims in his autobiography, Sober, which was originally published in 2017.
He claimed that former Gladiator host Ulrika, 55, made a move in 1999 when she "slipped her number into his pocket."
Former Arsenal star Tony then resurfaced the claims as he told the story on Ian Wright's Friday chat show, Friday Night's All Wright.
Tony said: "I was on the show with Ulrika Jonsson, who slipped her phone number on a piece of paper into my pocket."
He had already set his eyes on supermodel Caprice Bourret, 51, and so ultimately decided to turn Ulrika down.
He said: “I was flattered but I had no desire to follow up her interest. I was more interested in Caprice, who was Ian's sidekick on the show and who made it plain she was attracted to me.”
Tony and Caprice – who he compared to a "drug" – ended up dating for four months, before the relationship fizzled out due to a lack of "emotional connection."
In his autobiography, Tony wrote: "I don't think it was purely physical – and there were plenty who would say I was punching above my weight… I liked her very much. She was an honest and sincere woman. And, I have to say, I felt like a king in the company of this beautiful woman.
"In the end, though, I knew I would have to end the relationship due to the lack of emotional connection. It felt like an act, that she was playing a game before and after she met me. The honesty and sincerity I saw initially got lost behind the facade.
"I did have second thoughts – and there is always regret when a relationship ends. But I knew it was right to move on. Sex can be such a drug and could have kept me in the relationship."
Of Tony's claims that she tried it on with him, Ulrika told the Daily Mail that “not an ounce of truth in it”, before adding that she had “never met the guy”.
Despite claiming to have "never met" Tony, Ulrika has previously admitted she’s “always been partial to a bit of Tony”.
In her column for The Sun earlier this month, Ulrika praised Tony for his honesty in battling his alcohol addiction.
She wrote: “I've always been partial to a bit of Tony Adams. It could be because he opened about his addiction to alcohol and, in my eyes, transformed himself from a hardman of football to an honest, vulnerable giant.
“In Tony's case, I suspect, he has acknowledged that sex was a drug which always left him with enjoyable highs which then led him to be in constant pursuit of the next one.
“But for many sufferers the effects are not often about enjoyment or satisfaction but have a serious – and sometimes very dangerous – effect on their mental and physical well-being. Still, it's good to hear a man open up about his frailties and shortcomings.”
