Netflix hit Wednesday has officially been renewed for a second season – after becoming one of the most successful shows ever on the streaming platform.
The spin-off about the Addams Family focuses on the gothic teenager Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, as she moves into boarding school Nevermore Academy.
In an interview with Tudum.com on Friday, Creators/Showrunners/Executive Producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said: ‘It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world.
‘Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two.’

On Thursday, lead star Jenna Ortega, 20 was seen sharing an apparent celebratory hug with co-star Percy Hynes-White, 21, who plays Xavier Thorpe in the show.
The actor dropped off Jenna at the airport in Toronto amid dating rumors between the pair.

Upon its debut week streaming in November, the show racked up a record-making 341.2million viewing hours, beating Stranger Things, according to Netflix.
It’s also the no.1 show in 83 countries – tying with Stranger Things.
Netflix said in a tweet: ‘Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!’

It landed on Netflix in November and propelled straight to the top of the most watched list, beating the likes of The Crown, 1899 and Dead to Me.
The spooky drama sees Catherine Zeta-Jones playing the unique Morticia, and her husband Gomez played by Luis Guzmán, along with Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez).
Christina Ricci, who starred as Wednesday in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993) also plays a cameo in the Netflix show as teacher Miss Thornhill.
The show’s executive producer confirmed a second season of Wednesday could be on the cards.
Alfred Gough previously hinted at a possible follow-up by saying there is ‘definitely more that you can explore in the world of the Addamses’.
Speaking to Empire, Gough said: ‘[Screenwriter] Miles Millar and I are talking amongst ourselves about it. There’s definitely more that you can explore in the world of the Addamses.’
In an interview with TV Line, Millar also confirmed discussions are underway – with producers keen to focus on other members of the family, rather than just Wednesday.
It comes after viewers were left shocked at how Things’ scenes for the show were filmed.
Netflix gave audiences at home a sneak peek behind the scenes of the latest smash hit programme on Sunday.
Photographs posted to the streaming giant’s Twitter account showed actor Victor Dorobantu wearing a blue-screen suit with his bare hand exposed.
