Zara McDermott’s boyfriend Sam Thompson has responded after one of his social media posts led to comments saying it was a “cry for help” following her first live performance on Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend.
Sam, who has been dating Zara since June 2019, was speaking on Hits Radio and revealed the story behind his Instagram upload that resulted in thousands of messages.
“So I went to the gym for the first time in a very, very long time today (Monday) and I was doing a little arm workout,” he explained.
“I had a PT with me who was doing a little video and said, ‘Mate, your arm is looking alright!’
“I looked unreal – the lighting was class – so I put it on the ‘gram and within half a second of putting it up I had hundreds of messages from people being like ‘Zara dances one weekend with her new partner and you’re putting up gym photos are you?’
