Amanda Holden believes Brits are now more prudish than ever before.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 52, has previously said she won’t be covering up anytime soon despite finding herself the target of trolls and even BGT viewers, who have complained about her clothing choices in their thousands.
In recent months Amanda even managed to draw the ire of Andrew Tate, who made clear he didn’t like one of her bikini shots because she was ‘a wife and mother’.
After recently spending time working on a new documentary Amanda has said the country has gone backwards when it comes to respecting and appreciating female bodies.
‘There had always been an amazing appreciation for the female form previously,’ she said ahead of the release of Sex: A Bonkers History, which sees her explore how sexual behaviours through the ages have shaped civilisations.
‘The Victorians, I think, were to blame — in their eyes everything became more sexualised than it was meant to be.
‘It’s crazy that when you think of the hoo-ha around some of my outfits now, we’re still there. It’s absolutely ridiculous that it’s still going on in an era when we really think that we are ahead of the game,’ she added when speaking to The Sun.
She added: ‘But as I always say when we talk about Britain’s Got Talent, I’m 52 — if they want to still talk about my t*** then bring it on!’
In the series Amanda also stripped off for a racy portrait, however she said it wouldn’t ever see the light of day and was instead given to her husband Chris as a birthday present.
‘It felt liberating to pose naked. Certain areas were covered up, but I suppose it is like doing their equivalent of Playboy or something like that, then keeping it private for the person you love most,’ she explained.
Explaining how it was only her boobs that were on show, Amanda said she felt ‘looked after and completely comfortable’.
‘I don’t feel uncomfortable being naked, but I think if I’d been in a room full of people, I wouldn’t have done it. But we were all very well looked after, and it was very discreet.
‘I didn’t want to show the finished painting to the television audience only because of the reaction it would get.’
Over the years Amanda has been the subject of hundreds of Ofcom complaints after viewers took issue with dresses that were deemed to be too revealing and inappropriate for a family-friendly show.
The BGT judge was previously the subject of 235 Ofcom complaints during the 2020 season of the talent show by wearing a deeply plunging gown.
Another revealing outfit she wore on the show in 2017 became one of the most complained about TV moments of that year, with 663 viewers contacting the watchdog over it.
Earlier this year Amanda declared she would never ‘fade into the background’ and had every intention to ‘flaunting her bits’ for as long as she can.
She added she would continue to showcase her figure even as her body ages, joking she would ‘scoop up’ her bits when they are ‘drooping to the floor’.
Sex: A Bonkers History starts on September 18 at 9pm on Sky History.
