In case you need another reminder of just how adorable they are, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s “Nobody But You” music video is here — and it’s full of cute candid moments from the musical couple. The duet, from Shelton’s Fully Loaded: God’s Country, originally dropped ahead of the Dec. 13 album release. And now, Shelton and Stefani are rolling out the video just shy of the pair performing the song at this weekend’s Grammy Awards.
Sophie Muller, who directed the video and shot mostly in Los Angeles around Christmas, interspersed with scenes filmed on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch during their Thanksgiving holiday. According to Entertainment Tonight, the video is a blend of both the fantastical (dancing in an enchanted forest, driving a car in what looks like hyperspace) and the everyday. And while the fantastical elements are fun, it’s the glimpses into the couple’s life together that really lend the music video its magic.
In several scenes, they’re cuddled up on the couch together, playing with their dog Betty. In another sequence of scenes, Stefani feeds Shelton French fries — which he uses as a makeshift microphone to serenade his longtime love. Several moments in the video even appear to be candid video clips taken by the couple themselves: kissing, laughing, goofing off. In a (multi-hyphenate) word, it’s oh-so-sweet.
Since debuting at the end of last year, “Nobody But You” has racked up an impressive 3.5 million plays. What’s wild to consider is it could have very easily been a Shelton solo track, because that’s how it was originally pitched to the country star.
“This was one of those songs where the more I heard it, the more I fell in love with it. I also realized how important it is for me and where I am in my life, and I think that’s why [writer] Shane [McAnally] was trying to get to me,” Shelton shared prior to the song’s debut. “It fits my story. I was about to go in and record when I decided that it needed Gwen on it — because it is our song. I think it’s magic.”
And judging by the response to the song and early feedback about the video, it would seem as though fans agree.
