EA claims EA Sports FC will benefit from advanced new in-game animations thanks to the new Hypermotion technology.
Since 1993, EA has been using the FIFA name and brand for its football games, so it’s kind of shocking that the popular video game series would undergo a rebranding as EA Sports FC.
Nevertheless, the publisher has emphasised that EA Sports FC will encompass all the fan-favourite elements of its previous FIFA games… apart from the name.
Although the game’s core mechanics may retain some familiar features, it’s claimed that EA Sports FC will bear some significant changes, especially when it comes to player animations and gameplay realism.
During the recent La Liga showcase, EA Sports FC’s vice president David Jackson gave fans a brief preview of the upcoming game’s gameplay and highlighted some of its new features.
Talking about the game’s Hypermotion technology, Jackson revealed that EA Sports FC will use over 590 million frames of real-world game capture to deliver the most advanced in-game animations the series has seen.
As the name suggests, Hypermotion technology plays a crucial role in enhancing game realism through advanced motion capture and machine learning techniques.
The latest version of this tool, known as Hypermotion V Technology, promises to provide a whopping 80 times more data compared to its predecessor, used in FIFA 23.
According to Jackson, the purpose of using this new technology in EA Sports FC is to ‘blur the lines between virtual and real football’, by using advanced data on how players position themselves and track their movements with cameras to create more realistic animations.
With fans claiming that certain footballers look better in Modern Warfare 2 than in FIFA 23, the new technology is likely to be warmly welcomed by fans.
