EastEnders' Bobby Brazier 'signs up' for Strictly Come Dancing

EastEnders star Bobby Brazier is said to be in talks to compete on the next season of Strictly Come Dancing.

The eldest son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, the 20-year-old joined the cast of BBC soap as Freddie Slater last year.

Before that Bobby had been working as a model, making his runway debut for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week in 2020 before going on to walk in shows at London and Paris Fashion Weeks’.

Now he is set to star on the next season of the reality dancing competition Strictly.

‘Bobby is the dream signing for Strictly — he’s a young heartthrob who comes with a huge fanbase,’ a TV source has said.

‘He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.

‘There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages,’ they added when speaking to The Sun.

While each of his parents appeared on a range of reality shows from Big Brother and Celebrity Wife Swap to Simply the Best and Dancing on Ice, Bobby is set to be the first in the family to put on his dancing shoes and perform in front of the country.

When sharing the news he’d been cast in his first screen role last year, Bobby said he was ‘very grateful’.

‘Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing,’ he said.

Bobby was just five years old when his mother died of cervical cancer, aged 27, in 2009.

Earlier this year he said he didn’t remember a ‘whole lot’ about his mum but knew her ‘through other people’s memories’.

‘I’m always being told about her and what she meant to people,’ he told The Times.

He also thanked his parents ‘for the opportunities that may come my way’ but said he also backed himself because of the belief he instilled in his talents too.

During his first ever interview, on Good Morning Britain, last year, Bobby said he was sure his mum would be ‘so proud’.

He added: ‘Dad’s just happy I’m earning and paying rent.”

Strictly Come Dancing is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
