Glastonbury 2023 stars, from Elton John in supermarket to Alex Turner as milkman

Ever wondered what Lana Del Rey would look like as a police officer? Or what Guns N’ Roses legend Slash would look like as a fast food chef?

Well, wonder no more, as new images have revealed what several of the stars performing at Glastonbury Festival 2023 would look like if their lives took a different turn.

If you’re thinking that something appears a little bit off with the pictures… then you’d be absolutely on the money.

Of course, Sir Elton John doesn’t actually work at the checkout of a supermarket, and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner hasn’t found his calling as a milkman.

Nonetheless, the power of AI has demonstrated how the musicians would look if they had gone down a different path in life.

Freelance film editor Duncan Thomsen is behind the creations, and somehow put together the unbelievable collection of images in just one day.

‘They actually look really real; they look just like them,’ the 53-year-old from Brighton said.

‘I did them all in about a day, but you can work on one of these for up to a few days. They look quite retro which wasn’t intentional but they look very cool.’

The creator said that he was particularly fond of the image of Sir Elton, remarking that it ‘looks just like him’.

‘I also think the one of Alex Turner as a 1960s milkman looks really cool. It really fits his vibe – if he was around in the 60s I think he would be a milkman,’ he stated.

‘Lana Del Rey also quite simply looks so cool as a policewoman. That one turned out very well.’

AI creates pictures by referencing billions of images online, responding to prompts and commands set by users, with Duncan using a form of software called Midjourney for his images.

‘It can be quite a lengthy process but the results are fantastic,’ he explained.

Despite becoming well-acquainted with the faces of stars performing at Glastonbury this year, he didn’t actually manage to get his hands on a ticket.

He admitted that it was a ‘shame’ that he would be able to watch the artists live on stage, but ‘the pictures are just a way to join the fun’ and he’s ‘very happy with how realistic and fun they are’.
