Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s wedding may have to be postponed, but they’re moving full steam ahead with building their new family. Like the rest of us, their family is currently observing CDC guidelines and staying on their property whenever possible. But in their case, that property includes a giant backyard where Lopez, Rodriguez, and their daughters enjoyed a full day of baseball. Rodriguez’s daughters Natasha and Ella likely grew up playing baseball with a pro dad — but Lopez’s daughter Emme Maribel is learning from Rodriguez for the first time.
Rodriguez shared a video of their fun-filled afternoon on Instagram, and included a heartfelt caption about how he’s trying to make the most of this unexpected period of isolation. “Today was a dream day for me,” he wrote. “You can let this time pass you by, or you can seize it and use it to work on your swing, watch a ton of video, and make yourself a better player. Or a better anything, for that matter.” (As we’ve discussed, this period isn’t “extra time” for everybody — but we’re loving the positive attitude!)
“You can also use it to spend quality time with family,” he continued. “We had a blast playing a little baseball in the yard with the four powerful young women in my life. When I was their age, I couldn’t afford bats, balls ⚾️ and gloves. I was lucky to have great mentors to look out for me, and for the @bgcmiamidade giving me a place to play. Today, it was so much fun watching them take some cuts.”
The video is so heartwarming, showing each of their daughters take a turn at swinging along with Lopez and Rodriguez (also: huge fan of their warm-up dance). And, as Rodriguez himself points out, Lopez isn’t half bad with a bat.
“The only depressing part was watching Jen lock in on her swing and launch one,” he wrote. “What can’t she do? She even hits better than I do!”
Award-winning singer, actor, dancer, and better at baseball than an MLB pro? We believe it.
