Keke Palmer has firmly put her boyfriend mum-shaming drama behind her – or capitalised beautifully on it, depending on your take – by teasing her appearance in Usher’s new music video.
This would be the music video for his new song Boyfriend, dropping later today.
Oh yes.
Last month, the internet got heated after Keke, 29, enjoyed a sweet moment with Usher, 44, while attending his Vegas residency at Dolby Live.
In a video clip shared online, the Nope actress was seen dancing and swaying with the R&B crooner as he sang There Goes My Baby.
Keke looked stunning for the occasion wearing a black sheer bodycon dress but it seemed her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, didn’t approve as he reacted to the footage, tweeting: ‘It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.’
In fact, the heat got too much for him, with Darius – who had initially doubled down on his comment, bringing in ‘standards and morals’ – later deleting social media amid the huge backlash.
Now, Keke has offered a little sneak peek at her imminent starring appearance in Usher’s music video, simply tweeting ‘8.16’ and a link to it for when it goes live on Usher’s YouTube channel.
The clip shows the star looking fierce with bold blue streaks in her hair – but that’s not even the best bit.
‘I think everybody’s vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas,’ he told People.
‘And that’s what I hope came out of it. Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song.’
He continued: ‘Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to. But it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going and we just keep it light.’
Usher added that he didn’t ‘see anything negative happening in Las Vegas’ – and we’re pretty sure he’s going to see a lot of positives when Boyfriend drops.
