The man believed to be behind Bebe Rexha’s dramatic on-stage attack has now been arrested, according to police.
Bebe was hit with a phone that had been thrown from the audience while performing in New York City on Sunday night.
Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man from New Jersey has been arrested after a video of the incident went viral and the singer posted a picture of her swollen eye.
A second video circulated which appeared to show a man in the crowd allegedly confessing to the security guards before being escorted out.
It’s unknown if that is footage of Nicolas Malvagna, who police said has been arrested and charged, ‘pursuant to an ongoing investigation’.
The New York City Police Department told Metro: ‘On Sunday, June 18, 2023 at approximately 2200 hours, police were notified of an assault that occurred at the concert space of Pier 17 located at 89 South Street, within the confines of the 1st Precinct.
‘A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a 27-year-old male intentionally threw a cell phone at a 33-year-old female performer on stage, striking her about the face.
‘The individual was taken into custody on scene and removed to the 1st Precinct for arrest processing. The aided female was removed by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.’
It is not yet known the man’s motives behind the attack, which left Bebe with a massive black eye and a cut across her eyebrow, which is thought to have needed stitches.
She shared a picture of her wounds with her Instagram followers, captioned: ‘I’m good.’
Bebe appeared in good spirits despite the attack and was met with an outpouring of love online.
Drag Race star Aquaria said: ‘Hate hate hate seeing this ? sending u big love today especially.’
‘You deserve so, so, so much better. get well soon ❤️,’ said MTV’s official Instagram account.
