Miranda Lambert has been in the throes of a whirlwind romance, and it looks like she’s enjoying her happily ever after. In celebration of CMA Fest, the country singer offered new details to Extra about her married life, and we learned so much about Miranda Lambert as a stepmom to husband Brendan McLoughlin‘s son. Lambert, who is a self-proclaimed “dog lady,” has no other children and says she’s loving the “blended life” she’s created with her new husband, a New York City police officer.
Lambert and McLoughlin met in November 2018: Lambert was performing on Good Morning America, and McLoughlin was stationed at Times Square on policy duty. Less than three months later, the couple tied the knot in January 2019 — but didn’t make their marriage public until Valentine’s Day, when Lambert shared the news via Instagram. She captioned the photo with: “In honor of Valentine’s day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for…me.”
McLoughlin’s 7-month-old son, Landon James McLoughlin, was born just days after he first met Lambert. McLoughlin had previously been engaged to soccer player Jackie Bruno, but his child’s mother is Kaihla Rettinger (details of their relationship are unclear). Currently, McLoughlin and Lambert split their time between New York City (where Landon lives, and where McLoughlin works) and Nashville (Lambert’s home base). “We have the best of both worlds,” Lambert told Extra. “We spend time in New York, we get to see our adorable nugget, then we get to come back to the farm and have the quiet life. I’m enjoying the balance.”
While Lambert doesn’t have any children of her own, she does come with plenty of dogs: “He’s a great guy and, bless his heart, he didn’t have any dogs or any animals at all when he came into this relationship,” the “Little Red Wagon”singer gushes about husband McLoughlin. “So he inherited a whole barn full.” The way Lambert sees it, they’re all just part of the same big family: “I was like, ‘Hey, I got the dogs, you got the kid, we can mix and mingle,’” she jokes. On a more serious note, the country singer has a lot of love for new stepson Landon: “My stepson is amazing,” she gushed, “I’m loving that whole phase, and I’ve raised a million dogs, so I feel like I’ve got that part of my womanly/motherly thing […] This is a whole new journey. It’s great.”
Blending two families is never easy — but it sounds like these lovebirds are off to a great start.
