Shakira is in the middle of major drama that proves Brits aren’t the only ones outraged by a queue jumper.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer is facing criticism in Spain for allegedly skipping the queue for the Tower of Terror in Barcelona this week as the country celebrates Halloween.
According to reports from multiple Spanish outlets, the 45-year-old showed up at the family-friendly event this week accompanied by her children, some friends and her friends’ children.
The group were immediately ushered to the front of the queue and brought inside, much to the anger of those who were waiting in the queue for up to 90 minutes to be allowed inside.
One person who seemingly witnessed the star being given special treatment told Spanish outlet Socialité that Shakira has ‘p***ed off a lot of kids.’
A video clip aired by the outlet saw the musician being brought through the doors while people in the queue shouted out in annoyance, and witness Silvia claimed: ‘They began to separate everyone, and Shakira appeared with her children and two security agents and they sneaked in.’
Speaking in Spanish, she continued: ‘Despite people crying out, Shakira doesn’t flinch. The [venue] said that they let in whoever they wanted.’
The witness went on to slam the ‘attitude’ shown, and said it was a ‘cra**y image.’
It comes amid a tough time for the She Wolf singer, who is already fighting a lawsuit in Spain where prosecutors are calling for her to face an eight-year prison sentence and multi-million euro fine.
The star is accused of failing to pay taxes to Spain between 2012 and 2014, with Shakira claiming she did not live in the country during this period and was instead a legal resident of the Bahamas.
A representative for Shakira, 45, recently told Metro.co.uk that they will fight to prove her innocence, insisting she has ‘always abided by the law,’ and a judge has reportedly recently ruled that the singer must stand trial.
Colombian native Shakira is also in the middle of a difficult breakup from the father of her two children, Gerard Piqué.
Earlier this year, the singer announced that her relationship with the Barcelona footballer, 35, was over after more than a decade together.
And it appears the Whenever, Wherever singer may have addressed the split in her new song Monotonia, where she can be heard singing in Spanish: ‘It’s a necessary goodbye. What used to be incredible became routine. Your lips don’t taste like anything to me.’
In the accompanying music video, which premiered on YouTube this week, she could be seen in tears as she wandered around the aisles of a supermarket.
The musician met her now-ex in 2010, when she filmed a music video for her World Cup anthem, Waka Waka.
They dated for 11 years and welcomed sons Milan and Sasha together in that time.
Shakira recently spoke out over their long-term relationship ending in a candid interview, and vowed that she put ‘everything’ into the time they spent together.
