Singer Tiffany, who rose to fame in the 1980s as a pop icon, has narrowly avoided being involved in a ‘major’ car accident, it’s been reported.
The musician, whose full name is Tiffany Darwish, was recently driving down Interstate 65 in Nashville, Tennessee in the US when a tire from a nearby truck came rolling across the highway.
A representative for the 51-year-old said that during the incident, which occurred last week, the tire slammed into the front of her vehicle.
It then wound up stuck underneath the driver’s side of the car.
While the vehicle was damaged, fortunately the I Think We’re Alone Now singer is alright, TMZ reported.
Photos obtained by the publication revealed the extent of the damage, with dents shown on the car and the transmission apparently having been ‘completely torn apart’.
The side panelling on the car had also reportedly been ‘completely ripped off’ after the tire collided with the vehicle.
‘I’m extremely lucky and thankful because a major accident could have happened,’ Tiffany said.
Last month, the singer shared a selfie of herself in the car while on the road heading to her latest gigs.
‘Checking in from the road ..about to kick off the next round of shows,’ she wrote in the caption, while on her way to Florida, Tennessee and Texas.
The musician’s most recent show was at Lava Cantina The Colony in Texas, while she’s next due to perform at Whisky A Go Go in California in July.
Born in California in 1971, Tiffany signed a recording contract with producer George Tobin in 1984, before appearing on Ed McMahon’s TV show Star Search the following year.
Her debut, self-titled album Tiffany came out in 1987, with her biggest hit – a cover of I Think We’re Alone Now – coming out that same year.
The track was a cover of the song first released by Tommy James and the Shondells two decades prior.
Tiffany created the most famous cover, but it’s also been covered by other artists including The Rubinoos and Girls Aloud.
