Sophie Ellis-Bextor was seen getting back on her feet, as she was seen heading out and about while all patched up, following a nasty bike accident.
The singer, 41, ended up in A&E last week after falling off her bike during an evening cycle with her husband Richard Jones.
She was left ‘bruised and sore’ and shared a snap of her injuries to Instagram, while assuring fans she was ok, after the ambulance crew and hospital staff had ‘glued’ her back together.
And proving she is on the mend and healing nicely, Sophie’s injuries looked much better as she stepped out to grab some fresh air during lockdown.
The mum-of-five was casually dressed in a striped t-shirt and denim dungarees, with a huge bandage across her elbow.
Slight bruising was visible on Sophie’s face and the cut on her forehead looks like it is starting to clear up.
Just days ago, Sophie had shared an update with fans that revealed she has been left with a ‘swollen and newly glued forehead’ that she is fascinated by, but is being well looked after.
She said: ‘Hello all. Just to let you know I’m doing ok. I’ve been so well looked after at home and am currently laid up on a sofa surrounded by my 3 smallest boys. I’ve got some impressive bruises and a swollen and newly glued forehead which I’m completely fascinated by.
‘If I hurt myself, I’m always satisfied by a spectacular healing process and my puffy face has not disappointed. I want to thank you for the lovely messages. Quite overwhelming really, and almost worth falling off my bike for.’
Sophie continued: ‘As it happens I’ve been feeling so incredibly lucky to have not broken anything and to be fortunate enough to have so much support Xxxx hope you’re doing ok on what would have usually been our date night for the last couple of months. Have a boogie for me. I’ll be dancing with you again in no time.’
It came three days after she uploaded a black and white photo (chosen purposely to make her injuries look less ‘gory’) of herself in hospital.
In the caption, Sophie assured fans she was ok following the nasty fall and said: ‘I ended up in a&e last night after I took a tumble from the tow path down to the side of the Thames on my bike during an evening cycle. I’ve put the photo in black and white so it’s not too gory. I am ok, just a bit bruised and sore. I want to thank the ambulance crew and the staff at west mid hospital (where I was born, as it happens) for gluing me back together.’
She also thanked four runners who had stopped to help her following her fall.
Sophie’s husband Richard revealed that the pair had been on an evening bike ride for their first ‘date night’ in 11 weeks due to the coronavirus lockdown.
He said on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair: ‘A cycle ride and picnic by the river. It was lovely and romantic.. Moments after taking this photo we were on our way home and someone stepped in the way of Sophie’s path.
‘It was an accident but rather than ride into him she went over the edge. It was quite a drop, very dramatic, a lot of blood. I’m amazed she didn’t get more hurt… West mid hospital were incredible and looked after Sophie so brilliantly.
‘She’s now safe at home and resting and being spoilt by us all. We’re feeling very grateful as it could of been so much worse.’
Sophie and Richard married back in 2005 and are proud parents to five boys; sons Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, eight, Jesse, five, and Mickey, one, who was born in January 2019.
Speaking about motherhood during an appearance on This Morning, before the arrival of her fifth child, Sophie joked that despite already being a mum to four kids, she still doesn’t feel like she’s nailed parenting.
‘After having four kids still I would like advice, people say “you know what you’re doing” but do I? Every new person in the family changes the dynamic,’ she said.
‘So, I don’t feel like I have it down. You embrace that you don’t know and won’t get it right all the time, but the intentions are good.’
