Strictly pro 'seething' as she's 'left without celeb partner' for new series

Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychkova is reportedly ‘seething’ after missing out on a celebrity partner since joining the series in 2017.

The dancer, 34, was paired with Matt Goss last year and Channel 5 presenter Dan Walker the year before, where she finished in fifth place.

However, it now looks like Nadiya might not have the chance to compete for the coveted Glitterball and will only appear in the group dances.

According to reports, the Ukrainian dancer – who is in a relationship with fellow pro Kai Widdrington – was left ‘fuming’ by the revelation.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Nadiya lives and breathes Strictly, and so to hear that she wouldn’t have a celebrity partner this year was crushing for her. She was both gutted, and very, very angry.’

The insider added: ‘She has come to terms with it over the past few weeks, and will do her best to support Kai during the series. But it was devastating news for her.’

This comes after show bosses boosted security for the set and stars’ hotel after ‘overzealous’ fans followed female dancers to their homes.

Alarmingly, some fans of the BBC show have tracked down the home addresses for dancers and been ‘turning up or sending gifts’.

Both Dianne Buswell and Nadiya had fans appear at their houses but neither filed police complaints.

Although Dianne has since moved homes with real-life partner Joe Sugg, the incidents raised concerns for the safety of all cast members.

‘Some of the pro dancers have been targeted by some very overzealous fans, who are often at the studio gates and outside the hotel,’ an insider told The Mirror.

Taking part this year are Amanda Abbington, Bobby Brazier, Les Dennis, Angela Rippon, and Zara McDermott, to name just a few.

Of course, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are back as hosts, while Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke return to judge and dish out those 10s – hopefully!

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Nadiya’s reps and the BBC for comment.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday, September 16 at 6:35pm.
