One of the biggest shows in gaming, the Game Awards 2022, is almost here but it’s not as easy to watch as you might hope.
Although there won’t be as many games present at the Game Awards 2022, compared to previous years, host and organiser Geoff Keighley has promised it’s going to be ‘a very fun night.’
Still, very little is guaranteed, so here are our predictions for what’s expected to be announced at The Game Awards, with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Tekken 8, and The Last Of Us multiplayer amongst the most likely.
As usual, a lot of big names in the games industry will be present, with Hideo Kojima teasing Death Stranding 2 and Final Fantasy 16 already guaranteed to be present – but when and how can you tune in? And how long will you need to stay up?
What time does the Game Awards 2022 show start?
The Game Awards is coming back with a live audience for the first time since 2019. However, if you’re not planning to fly all the way to Los Angeles, you’ll probably be sitting at home with a bag of crisps to watch the show.
The ninth edition of Geoff Keighley’s annual showcase airs live on Friday, December 9 in the UK. You’ll see Americans referring to it as being on Thursday, December 8 but once you take into account the time difference it’s technically Friday morning.
The pre-show will start at 12:30am GMT, which is usually reserved for lower profile and indie games, before the main event begins.
Usually, the pre-show goes on for about half an hour, though this year things could be different as the show as a whole will be significantly shorter.
So, this means you won’t need to go on a three-hour marathon and stay up until 3am, like last year.
That said, organisers haven’t revealed the official runtime, so it won’t be clear how much shorter it is until it’s over.
