Wonder Woman video game artwork leaks with two new characters

For the first time in two years there’s a new look at the upcoming Wonder Woman game, although it was only revealed by accident.

Given the failure of Gotham Knights and the problems with Suicide Squad and developer WB Games Montréal, it doesn’t seem like things are going well in the world of DC Comics video games – especially as there isn’t even a new Injustice at the moment.

It’s easy to forget, but Warner Bros. did actually announce a new DC game back in 2021: the first ever big budget Wonder Woman game. Although the only thing we learnt about it at the time, is that it’s single-player and by the same team that made the Shadow Of Morder games.

Nothing has been shown of it since, to the point where some were beginning to wonder if it had been cancelled, but an accidentally revealed piece of new artwork suggests that it may be on the cusp of a new reveal.

The images in the tweet below were used as the header for motion capture supervisor James Philip Gentile on LinkedIn. He didn’t reference it in any way, and considering he quickly took it down once the internet spotted it, it seems obvious he thought it had already been made public.

It shows Wonder Woman in the middle, with the exact same design from the teaser trailer, plus an unidentified Amazon on the right and a woman in faintly sci-fi style armour on the left.

The identify of the armoured woman is unclear, although it’s possibly long-time Wonder Woman ally Etta Candy, who in the newer comics has been given a more active role – although usually she’s represented as either blonde or a black woman.

It could also be an ordinary Amazon, as in many of the comics the Amazons are shown to be technically advanced, more so than the rest of the world, and not just stuck in the past.

The more likely explanation, though, is she’s just an ordinary human and someone Wonder Woman meets along the way.

Some fans have been concerned that the image implies the game is co-op but the one and only thing that Warner Bros. said about it, is that it’s single-player and uses the same Nemesis System from Shadow Of Mordor.

That’s not to say that plans can’t change but after two years of silence hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
