BEAMS and adidas Originals are certainly no strangers to creating stately staple sneakers — in years past, the two have teamed up for everything from crisp Campus 80s to yeomanlike Yung-1s — so now Japanese retail empire and German footwear juggernaut have readied an elevated take on the Stan Smith. Using premium materials and adapting a “less is more” ethos when it comes to bright colors, every inch of the two’s Stan is crafted with a keen attention to detail.
Most Stan Smiths feature a smooth, glossy leather, but BEAMS has opted for a supple tumbled leather instead. This premium material is used on the entirety of the white upper — even the tongue, which boasts a thin, unlined design. This tongue also presents the shoe’s signature branded strike: a classic portrait of Stan Smith himself, inversed from a standard mix of white and green for an extra-sporty green and white detail. On the midfoot, the standard gold foil spellout logo is gone as well, replaced by a simple-yet-effective debossed iteration. Heels add adidas‘s signature Trefoil logo and a Stan Smith text hit, while green insoles and white midsoles/outsole finalize the look.
The BEAMS x adidas Stan Smith is available for pre-order on the BEAMS webstore now, and will ship mid-October. The MSRP is set at a tax-included ¥ 15,400 JPY (approximately $146 USD).
