The former second lady is now officially the first lady of fashion.
The floral embroidered Oscar de la Renta dress worn by Jill Biden Saturday while her husband, Joe, delivered his acceptance speech as president-elect sold out within hours of the appearance.
The navy blue, wool-blend crepe midi dress retailed for $5,690 on the website Outnet.com but was on sale for $1,707 before it sold out overnight, according to the Telegraph.
Jill Biden, a longtime professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, paired the pricey asymmetrical-hemmed dress with a black face mask and fuschia-colored heels.
The 69-year-old budding fashion icon frequently turns to American brands for her wardrobe, the Telegraph reported.
In August, at the Democratic National Convention, she wore a crisp green shirtdress by New York designer Brandon Maxwell, who has dressed former first lady Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga.
Jill Biden, who received her doctorate in education in 2007, turned to a Christian Siriano cap-sleeved dress later at the DNC. Siriano, who is also based in New York, has been a champion for size inclusivity and racial equity.
With her Oscar de la Renta dress, Jill Biden is also supportive of immigrant brands. The fashion powerhouse, who died in 2014, was from the Dominican Republic, while its current designers, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, are immigrants to the US, the outlet reported.
