Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh met some of the people from the Royal Navy and BAE Systems personnel who work on the ship’s refit and upkeep whilst in dry dock at His Majesty’s Naval Base, in Portsmouth. The then Countess of Wessex launched the HMS Daring, which is a Type 45 destroyer warship, back in 2006 but the vessel has been undergoing work since 2020.

For the engagement in Portsmouth, the Duchess of Edinburgh wore a beige blazer from Me + Em, one of her favourite brands.
The Italian Wool Military Button Blazer in Pale Camel currently retails for £325 and some of the jacket’s luxe details include its four military-inspired buttons “with an antique gold-toned finish” giving “the tailored staple a luxe edge” and its Italian Recycled-Wool Blend.
The designer recommended styling the blazer with jeans for a casual yet polished style, like Sophie’s casual chic work ensemble.
The fashion designer’s website explained that the jacket is “endlessly wearable and detailed with a mock double-breasted fastening stitched with military-inspired buttons”.
The buttons’ tarnished-gold finish will “elevate off-duty and office-bound outfitting with ease,” Me + Em explained.
Underneath the blazer, Sophie wore a white shirt, and for accessories, she opted for a gold brooch and a pair of black and gold earrings.
The beautiful earrings by Italian designer Lucia Odescalchi are the Chainging Berlin Earrings, with “gold plated silver, black silver central element, casted from a mould of an original cut-steel brooch from the Victorian period”, and have a price tag of 200 euros (£175).

Sophie later changed clothes and was photographed visiting the ship wearing a white helmet but her glittery earrings could still be seen.
Royal fans loved the jewel and Instagram user @sabrina_hala commented they were “magnificent”.
Social media user @ale_campos_gua said Sophie “has looked amazing lately” and @brittaandlove added: “For me the real queen!”
Royal watcher catim63 commented: “What a beautiful camel blazer. I like the fabric.”
Sophie was seen on Sunday when she attended the Easter service in Windsor with the rest of the Royal Family.
The royal wore a fuchsia coat from Catherine Walker which she combined with a large beige hat from designer Philip Treacy.
The Duchess of Edinburgh finished her Easter look with beige knee-high boots and a clutch bag from Sophie Habsburg.
Royal fans, however, were not fans of the large hat the royal chose for church and many took to social media to share their thoughts.
On Twitter, one said the hat was “terrible” and another one added that “she really needs someone to help her dress, the hat and boots don’t go”.
An Instagram user commented: “Love the coat and colour. Hate the boots and hat. Seems too heavy for a spring look.”
“I kind of like the mad hatter Alice in Wonderland concept, but it might be too warm for these boots,” said a third one.
Another royal fan and Instagram user added: “I like the colours together, but the boots, hat and bag are all too big. Looks totally out of proportion to me. The bag looks more like a business folder than a clutch you take to church.”
