From Idris and Sabrina Elba to Robbie and Ayda — the couples who prove you can mix business with pleasure – The Sun

THEY say never work with children or animals, but what about your spouse?

From actors Idris and Sabrina Elba to This Morning's Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes — meet the super couples who are mixing business with pleasure.

Idris, 47, and Sabrina Elba, 30

WHO? Luther star Idris and his model/actress wife Sabrina have launched a lifestyle brand and their first project is a podcast called Coupledom.

The pair have been inseparable since they met in 2017, so it’s no wonder they’re working together.

HE SAYS: “We believe if we can create a Coupledom community we can share our experiences and achieve more.”

SHE SAYS:  “My hope is that by listening to other partnerships, people will recognise themselves and find common ground that they can apply to their own lives.”

UPSIDES: We get to listen to them airing their dirty laundry. In a video for Vogue, Idris dished on Sabrina’s messiness. “It’s like a pile of clothes on top of a pile of make-up on top of a pile of new clothes.”

DOWNSIDES: We don’t get to see Idris’ face cos it’s a podcast. Damn!

Chris and Rosie Ramsey

WHO? Comedian and Strictly contestant Chris joined forces with his actress/DJ wife Rosie to launch hit podcast Sh**ged, Married, Annoyed in 2019. It’s had 15 million downloads worldwide and is going on a UK tour this year.

HE SAYS: “Other couples have date nights, we have podcast nights.”

SHE SAYS: “Strangely it’s brought us closer together. This is a full hour and a half to sit opposite each other and talk.”

UPSIDES: They share everything. Poo stories, sex puns and the big questions, such as: is it ever OK to fart in front of your partner?

DOWNSIDES: It’s a bit too relatable. Are you guys spying on our relationships?

Ruth Langsford, 59, and Eamonn Holmes, 60

WHO? Husband and wife duo Ruth and Eamonn have been snuggling side-by-side on the This Morning sofa since 2006 and have been coupled up for 24 years.

HE SAYS: “When they had the idea of putting us together, [Ruth] said: ‘That’s not happening!’ She speaks to me with disdain.” We think he was joking.

SHE SAYS: “Everyone knows if you have to work with your partner it’s not easy, but we’re alright most of the time.”

UPSIDES: We love their bickering banter and how Ruth loyally gets the giggles at Eamonn’s deadpan jokes.

DOWNSIDES: Their frequent innuendo. “I’m going to take you right behind there,” Eamonn once said. Argh!

Rochelle, 30, and Marvin Humes, 34

WHO? The former pop stars turned presenters have presented their own hit TV shows – Marvin on The Voice and Rochelle on Ninja Warrior UK – but after a few joint stints on This Morning they teamed up together to host their own music quiz show The Hit List.

HE SAYS: “Rochelle thinks she is the boss but she is not at all. She knows who is in charge!”

SHE SAYS: “I think one good thing about [working together] is that we don’t have to get to know each other. If I don’t like something, I’ll go into the autocue and go: ‘Marvin can say that’.”

UPSIDES: It’s funny when they make little digs at each other, such as when Marvin ribs Rochelle about JLS having more No.1s than The Saturdays, and she jokes about his he-vage.

DOWNSIDES: Sometimes they chat too much over the music, but it’s hard to think of anything bad to say about these two.

Robbie, 46, and Ayda Williams, 40

WHO? Former Take That singer Robbie asked his actress/model wife Ayda to join him on the X Factor judging panel in 2018.

They’ve also launched a podcast together, At Home With The Williamses.

HE SAYS: “Ayda’s ambitious, talented and creative and I dragged her away from her job and made her my dressing room support. Now she’s really enjoying herself and because she is more fulfilled I guess, as a unit, we’re happier.”

SHE SAYS: “The show is so short compared to what we record, and there are so many cheeky moments happening between us.”

UPSIDES: We love Robbie’s pranks and Ayda’s feistiness. Who can forget when she sent one of Robbie’s X Factor acts to deadlock? Bet that made for an awkward taxi journey home.

DOWNSIDES: Sometimes they can overshare, such as when Robbie likened Ayda giving birth to watching his favourite pub burn down. Or when she revealed they had sex backstage on The X Factor during the ad breaks. TMI, guys.

John Torode, 54, and Lisa Faulkner, 48

WHO? MasterChef presenter John met Holby City actress Lisa when she won Celebrity MasterChef in 2010. In 2019 they started co-presenting their own cookery show, John And Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen.

HE SAYS: “We never argue when we cook together because when you’re in a relationship like ours and involved with food, you can feel the energy. Sometimes Lisa says she doesn’t like things but we never steam at each other.”

SHE SAYS: “Working together has been like a honeymoon. I’ve got to spend every day with my best friend.”

UPSIDES: The pair are so at ease with each other, it’s adorable to see Lisa playfully slap John on the arm and call him “babes”.

DOWNSIDES: These two are goo-ier than a chocolate fondant, but we do like watching them make vol-au-vents.
