GABRIELLE Aplin, 26, had a top 5 album and her single Power of Love went to no.1.
Here, the British singer talks her best and worst qualities, her earliest memory and Greta Thunberg.
What is your biggest fear?
As an anxious person, everything is a fear for me – I’m constantly worried about leaving the oven on or forgetting to turn the heating off. But I would have to say climate change is my biggest fear.
Who is the love of your life?
My Boston terrier Zippo. She wasn’t named after the lighter, it’s just because she’s really fast, though Zippo sent me a lighter with her face on and that’s pretty cool.
Who makes you laugh more than anyone?
My boyfriend Alfie [Hudson-Taylor, 25, a musician]. He is hilarious. He’s Irish, and I’m pretty sure they just make everything they say sound funny.
What does being in love feel like?
Contentment and comfort.
What is your earliest memory?
I can remember my mum hoovering when I wasn’t old enough to walk. The television was on in the background playing Sinéad O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2U.
Who would you invite to a dinner party?
Dawn French – she’s brilliant.
What is your favourite word?
Delicious. I say it all the time. On my YouTube channel I do cooking shows, and you could turn it into drinking game with the amount I say that word!
Which public figure do you most admire?
Greta Thunberg. She’s only 16 years old and she’s changing the world.
What possession would you rescue from a burning building?
My family and animals not included, it would have to be my phone. Tragic!
If you could travel back in time, where would you go?
Ancient Egypt to see how they built the pyramids.
Do you have a party trick?
Moving my eyes in opposite directions.
How do you relax?
My favourite thing is a bath with essential oils, candles and music. I find chilling out really difficult as I have ADHD I also hate not being productive, but I force myself to do it just to get some mental space.
What has been your greatest achievement?
When Power Of Love went to No.1 in the UK. Second has to be when my single Home went to No.1 in Brazil.
What’s top of your bucket list?
It’s all travel-based. I’m lucky because music helps me to travel all over, but I really want to go to India, and I want to meet a blue whale.
Which celeb would you love to snog?
Miley Cyrus – she’s amazing.
Clean or messy?
Both. I’m a total germ-a-phobe, but I don’t mind having a floordrobe.
What are your best and worst qualities?
I think my best qualities double up as my worst. I can be really empathetic, but to the point where I really carry other people’s sadness or guilt. I also procrastinate a lot.
Most famous person in your phone?
I have Ed Sheeran’s number from when I toured with him five years ago, though I don’t reckon it’ll be the same one now!
