MARBLE is a great material to decorate your home with making it look elegant, however, it can stain or scratch easily.

With our tips on how to clean marble and carefully remove stains, your marble decor will look as good as new for a long time.

How to clean marble

First, you need to make sure that you protect your marble as cleaning is not the only way how to make sure it stays top-notch.

Use coasters, especially if you're drinking alcohol or citrus juices and place hot plates and dishes on trivets.

Try to frequently wipe the marble of dirt and dust that might get on it and whenever there is a spill, make sure to remove it with a paper towel.

Don't wipe it because it'll only spread it.

Mix warm water and washing up liquid

Mix some warm water with a washing-up liquid or pH-neutral soap.

The minerals and natural elements in the liquids won't damage the marble and so they are ideal for cleaning.

Clean the marble

Dip a soft cloth in the mixture you just created and clean the marble.

It's important that it is not a harsh cloth, or else, it will scratch the marble.

Rinse the marble

Now use another soft cloth to wipe the surfaces and remove any dirt left.

You can rinse the surface with cool and clean water.

Dry the marble

With a dry towel or microfibre cloth, soak up the water on the marble.

Make sure to do this as soon as you finish cleaning the dirty spots on your marble.

Leaving marble to air dry will cause water spots on your surface.

How to safely remove stains from marble

Unfortunately, a spill might leave a slight stain that you didn't catch during your evening drinking red wine with your friends.

Don't worry, because we have a solution to how it can be removed.

Find a solution at the store that has 12% hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia and that should do the trick.

Only apply this solution on the stain, not the whole marble surface.

Why does marble turn cloudy and can I make it shiny again?

Your marble might be turning cloudy because of food or drinks that you spilt on it.

That is why using coasters and placing your dishes over another surface rather than marble is important.

You might also be using the wrong cleaning products, maybe they contain too much acid, and they're damaging your marble.
