A YARD expert has shown that it is possible to make a garden bed without backbreaking and costly lawn work.
Using a waste product instead meant less difficult digging effort – and more effective results.
"Did you know that you can make a garden bed without digging up the grass?" said Chris (@busychrisgardening).
She explained how there was an easier way to get your desired garden bed going that doesn't require tons of time and money.
"It will save you a lot of effort," she said.
It took just one item to make lawn life easier: cardboard.
Chris simply left an old box on the patch of grass she wanted to transform, and showed how it was turning brown days later.
It was already doing the trick without any extra tedious work needed.
The self-proclaimed curious backyard gardener from Australia lifted the waste product to give a peek of the grass progress taking place underneath.
Rather than having to use a spade or cutter and waiting months for the grass to die – followed by arduous digging – the affordable alternative was a lifesaver.

Without any backbreaking work, there was no going back for this gardening guru.
The lawn care expert who regularly posts about her adventures growing everything from elderberry to miniature apple trees, had indeed found many fans of her easy and cheap trick.
"My mom and I do this! It helps to kill weeds too," expressed one enthused follower who had found yet an additional perk from using the cardboard.
Another viewer had her own piece of advice for making a thriving garden bed: "I just used newspaper and got it really wet. It worked perfectly."
According to miraclegro.com, a planting bed sits on top of your existing soil and can be anywhere from just a few inches tall to waist-high – or even higher.
The bed can also be made of many different materials.
Typically, there is room left around the outside of the bed so that you can walk around it.
This allows the soil to stay loose and fluffy rather than compacted.
This is essential as roots grow best when there's room for air and water to move easily through the soil.
