I’m a beautician & you’ve been doing your skincare routine all wrong… here’s why you shouldn’t do it just before bed

IF YOU are into skincare, it’s highly likely that you do your routine at the end of the day, when you’re getting ready for bed, right?

Well, we have news for you…

It turns out that you shouldn’t be doing your skincare routine right before bed and in fact you should do it at least 1-2 hours before.

Gin Amber, a beautician with 51.6k followers on TikTok has revealed the mistake that we have all been making with our skincare routine.

She uploaded her video the caption ‘Simple skin care tip that not many of us know and do. Did you know about it?’.

She said: “One skincare tip that can change your life.

“Apply your skincare on your skin one or two hours before bed otherwise your expensive skincare is going to be on your pillowcase.”

Not only will your fancy skincare products go straight onto your pillow if you do your routine just before bed, but this also won't allow the products to properly absorb into your skin.

Skinkraft experts said: “Some experts suggest that the best time for your night-time skincare routine is just before going to bed. However, you may end up with more moisturizer on your pillow than your face. The skin needs at least 10-20 minutes for products to get properly absorbed into the skin.

“So, ideally, you should use makeup remover as soon as you get home. Follow this by cleansing your face thoroughly. After that, you can space out applying your serum, toner, eye gel, and moisturizer in intervals between your chores and dinner.

“This way, you ensure a complete skincare routine and provide your skin with all the nourishment it requires during the nights."
