A BODYBUILDING mum reckons being strong and sexy is the perfect combination.
Megan Brettell, a personal trainer, got into bikini fitness modelling in 2013 and later turned professional after entering competitions throughout the UK and America.
The mother of two, from Edinburgh, feels much better when she’s in training and would recommend it to other women.
She says: “You can definitely be strong and sexy.
“Especially within the bikini/ wellness class as it's very feminine.
“I've never had any negative feedback towards my physique that I am aware of.
“Bikini class is different to women's bodybuilding. It's softer in terms of look, smaller in size and a different type of posing.
“I do know people who have had negative comments towards their physique, but usually it's from those who are not in shape or who don’t look after their health.
“To me, a well-built physique shows hard work and money cannot buy it.
“It shows discipline and dedication, and it is something that needs to constantly be worked on daily.

“Building muscle as a female takes time, and by time I mean years. It's a lifestyle.”
Megan admits it's not easy being both a mum and bodybuilder.
But she is willing to put in the hard work because she loves the results.
She adds: “My most recent prep I found really hard as I am now a mum of two and my baby didn't want to sleep which made it really difficult as low calories and a lot of training makes you super tired even without kids thrown in there.
“But I'd set myself a challenge and was committed to see it through.
“It wasn’t my first prep with a child, but two was a completely different ball game.
“As a mum and getting in my training, I either do it first thing in the morning when they go to school or nursery before I work, or last thing at night when they are in bed and my husband is home from work.
“If I don't have childcare, I'll just train in the house and make it work.
“My usual training sessions last between 40 and 50 minutes and I'll just go a walk or two with the pram to get my cardio and steps in.”
