I'm a tattoo artist, do's and don'ts of getting your tattoos done & why you should bring a change of clothes | The Sun

A TATTOO artist has opened up about the do’s and don'ts of getting an inking – and why you should always bring a spare pair of clothes along with you.

TikTok user Daisy Lovesick owns a tattoo parlour called Lovesick in Brisbane, Australia from where she recorded herself giving those thinking about getting an inking some valuable advice.

Daisy, whose social media profile is @daisylovesick, explained to her 511k plus TikTok followers that there are some major rules when it comes to walking into her workplace.

Introducing herself and her top tips, Daisy said: “Hi, I’m a tattoo artist and studio owner.”

She then stepped back so that the camera could capture her own inkings, including on her neck, arms, legs and even her face.

She continued: “I also have been in the tattoo chair a couple of times myself.”

Daisy went on to lift the lid on some of them, as she explained: “I want to start doing some tattoo tips and tricks for newbies to help you get the most out of your tattoo appointments.

“The first of which being – don’t wear nice clothes to your tattoo appointment.

“If you’re going somewhere nice afterwards, bring spare clothes in your bags.”

The tattoo fan then said that people should attend their appointment wearing casual clothes, such as an old tracksuit or t-shirt and NEVER wearing white.

But why is that the case?

She added: “I get so sad when someone comes to me in a white linen sundress.

“Because I know for a fine fact that I am going to ruin that piece of clothing.

“Regardless of whether you’re getting a teeny tiny little micro tattoo, or sitting for a full back piece.

“Regardless of whether your artist is using a full colour palette or just black, I’m going to get ink on your clothes.

“The reason for this is that we are wiping your skin, or our work area, pretty consistently throughout the piece.

“When we wipe, it’s typically with a damp or wet paper towel covered in green soap or something similar.
