Mrs Hinch fans share game changing hack for unblocking toilet with miracle product – claiming ‘nothing else works' | The Sun

FANS of cleaning whizz Mrs Hinch have shared their number one product to help unblock a toilet with ease.

No one wants to have to deal with a blocked toilet.

It’s no surprise it’s considered one of the most arduous household chores as it can be pretty difficult to sort.

If you have an older one in your home, you may find that even a little bit too much paper can cause a huge issue.

Luckily, a group of cleaning whizzes have given their ultimate hack for quickly getting rid of blockages.

One woman asked for ways to combat a blocked loo on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page – where fans of the viral cleaning sensation Sophie Hinchcliffe give their own home hacks.

She wrote: “Any ideas for unblocking the toilet? I have tried washing up liquid then hot water, a plunger, a drain unblocker, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and suction using cling film.

“Still no joy! Oh, and draining rods in the main drain. At a loss! Help please.”

The poster was soon met with a long list of suggestions, but there was one clear winner.

One person replied: “Caustic soda. Follow instructions carefully.”

Another commented: “Caustic soda. Nothing else works.”

“I used caustic soda with a kettle of hot water. But don't stand too close,” agreed a third.

Caustic soda is one of the common names for sodium hydroxide (NaOH).

It is commonly used in the manufacture of paper products, soap, water treatment, textiles, and more.

In addition to its commercial uses, caustic soda can also be used for a variety of household cleaning tasks.

This includes tackling blocked drains, clogged waste pipes and sanitising bins.

Caustic soda is available in some hobby, DIY, or hardware stores and can currently be bought from Robert Dyas for just £2.99.

Homebase is another retailer that stocks the product, with a 500g tub selling for £4.50.
