Mum divides opinion after urging others to normalise gender disappointment by sharing teary response to her own reveal | The Sun

A MUM has divided opinion after sharing her teary response to her gender reveal.

Kaitlyn took to Facebook to share a Reel showing footage of the big reveal, which saw her and her partner letting off smoke cannons – announcing they were expecting a little boy.

"What everyone saw when we did our gender reveal," she wrote over the top.

The video then showed Kaitlyn – who already has a daughter – in tears with puffy eyes and mascara down her cheeks, as she wrote: "How I felt on the inside when we got home".

"Gender disappointment is real and valid," she added in the caption.

But her response to the gender reveal sparked controversy among people in the comments.

I had no idea I was pregnant – my partner felt the baby kick but didn’t say

"Things that are ok: wanting a particular gender and being sad when you get the other," one wrote.

"Things that are not ok: telling the whole wide world, in such a way that the child could find out one day.

"Things that are just foolish: having a gender reveal party in the first place when you have a strong preference on what the thing revealed will be."

"I CANT STAND THIS!" another raged.

"You should just be happy it's a baby and hopefully healthy – you shouldn't do a gender reveal if you're going to have a tantrum about it."

"Some of you women really take having the ability to get pregnant for granted," a third commented.

"If you couldn't get pregnant at all or it took a while for you to get pregnant you wouldn't be crying that your baby is a boy.

"At the end of the day you only come off as ungrateful for something others would kill for."

But others defended Kaitlyn, with one writing: "Posting things like this spreads awareness about this.

"It validates this feeling for many mothers that have bee through this and can help them feel less guilty for having these feelings.

"It also can make mothers feel less alone by seeing how many others have been through this."
