MUMS have shared their horror over how dirty their clothes and sheets really are after strip washing them revealed disgusting amounts of grime still festering in them.
Even if you use your washing machine regularly, it seems layers of filth are still lingering in our clothes.
Strip washing is where you soak your linens in a tub with detergent for hours, which draws out all the dirt.
One mum decided to try the tip on six of her bras, and horrified at the result.
Posting on Facebook, she shared a photo of a tub filled with brown, murky water.
She captioned it: “I did the soak thing on 6 of my bras… ewwwww.”
But she added that she strip washed them fresh from the washing machine, revealing the amount of dirt regular washing didn’t remove.
Explaining how she got them so clean, she wrote: "I did just a tablespoon of Cold Power and a tablespoon of soak stuff.
“Diluted that first in cold water. Added my bras and soaked for hour and a half."
Commenting on the post, women have vowed to try it out for themselves.
One person said: "I'm scared of doing that on mine.
"Even being black I can see there's lots of stuff of there.[sic]"
Someone else wrote: "We might as well use that recipe to wash all our clothes if that's the outcome after a wash. It's crazy!"
A third said: "Omg I have to do this!
"That water scared me of what mine would look like."
Inspired by her success, other mums decided to try the tip themselves – with similar results.
One mum put her children’s bedsheets in, and was faced with a similar pool of brown, filthy water at the end.
Sharing before-and-after photos of her white sheets, the mum wrote: “Did my first ever strip wash. Omg I’m discussed [sic] feel so dirty.
“I wash my kid’s quilts in the machine often.
"I thought I’d try strip washing them and see how they go.
“Omg my poor kids have been sleeping with these on them. How can they be that bad I only washed them in my machine not long ago.
“I also did my son’s pram and it’s like brand new again.”
And not just sheets, but mums have also been strip washing their kids’ school uniforms – with similar results.
One mum was puzzled as to why her children smelled like ‘wee’, so she decided to give the washing method a go, and it seems she found the source of the stench.
Posting stomach-churning before-and-after pictures, she wrote: “I’ve noticed my kid always seems to smell like wee after school.
