A WOMAN confessed that she wore white to her best friend’s wedding but refused to apologize when the bride got upset.
The woman shared her disastrous story on the Reddit forum Am I The A*shole under the name @InfamousBake1859.
InfamousBake explained that she and her husband had been invited by her best friend on a vacation in South Padres Island in Texas.
Her best friend had instructed her to bring the dress InfamousBake last wore to her anniversary dinner, a black lace over nude ensemble.
However, because InfamousBake had recently given birth, the black dress no longer fit the way it used to, so she packed a formal white lace dress instead.
Upon arrival at the beach, she quickly realizes the event is actually an intimate surprise wedding.

Guest’s wedding outfit is SO inappropriate that everyone assumes she’s the bride
My boss was a no-show at my wedding when I turned down his strange request
The bride and InfamousBake shared an inside joke about the bride eloping, which resulted in the wedding being kept a secret from her.
To make matters worse, OP learns that she is to be maid-of-honor, to the horror of the bride and her.
After agonizing over her options, InfamousBake realizes there’s no way she can change her outfit: “I didn’t bring any other dress plus there was no time to change/buy a new dress,” she wrote.
Instead, she offered to either leave the wedding or give up the position of Maid of Honor, both of which the bride refused.

InfamousBake doesn’t believe she’s at fault as she didn’t think she had enough information to make the correct outfit choice.
Commenters took the side of the poster, agreeing that the responsibility fell on the bride to make sure her friend wasn’t wearing white to the wedding, especially since she was going to be the surprise maid-of-honor.
“Lol came here FULLY prepared to call you TA but you literally didn't know it was a wedding. It's a shame for the bride but that's a risk you take when you pull 'surprise' sh*t like that. NTA,” said one commenter.
“NTA. You can’t follow the rules for an event if you don’t know what the event is. Your friend wanted her wedding to be a surprise, that comes with the risk of people not being fully prepared to meet all normal etiquette expectations,” explained another.
