First you unplug your microwave and make sure you aren't taking out the vents just after the microwave has been used.

The vents should be easy to take out but you may want to grab a butter knife to assist you.

Once you have the vents pop them in the sink use hot water and dish soap; allow it to sit for a few minutes, and then get scrubbing with a hard bristle brush.
