Prince Harry boasts lockdown tan as he talks about missing rugby during video chat from his LA mansion

PRINCE Harry showed off a healthy lockdown tan while appearing in an England Rugby video from his home in LA.

The Duke of Sussex, 35, is currently staying in Tyler Perry’s £15million mansion with Meghan Markle, 38, and Archie, one, but admitted he was “missing rugby” after it was put on hold due to the coronavirus crisis.

The video starred a number of sporting stars alongside Prince Harry, including former English rugby player Jonny Wilkinson and Australian rugby coach Eddie Jones.

In the video, which was posted on England Rugby's Instagram page earlier this week, the stars thanked fans for their efforts to tackle coronavirus during the pandemic.

Prince Harry starts the video confessing: “We all miss rugby.”

Then a fellow contributor adds: “This pandemic might have paused the game,” before the duke continues: “But it hasn't taken away our spirit.”

The video appears to have been taken outside in a garden, with Prince Harry looking to be in high spirits, after stepping back as a senior royal earlier this year.

The caption on the England Rugby page said: “When the game was paused, the rugby family came together as one. Thank you from all of us.”

The clip was also shared on their website, with the title: “Duke of Sussex, Jonny Wilkinson, Eddie Jones and Sarah Hunter (Rugby Union player) say thank you for pitching in to combat coronavirus.”

England Rugby’s Pitch In campaign will look to honour those who have helped during lockdown and shown the “true core values of the game”.

Royal fans were delighted to see Prince Harry in the clip, with one saying: “Awesome video, so happy you all put Harry in it.”

Another wrote: “Brilliant video. I love that Prince Harry is in it too,” while a third added: “Awesome! Good to see Prince Harry too.”

This follows Prince Harry backing the move to ban Swing Low, Sweet Chariot from rugby games due to its association with slavery.

The Sunday Times reported that the duke is requesting the Rugby Football Union reviews the usage of the song, written by freed Oklahoma slave Wallace Willis, in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Prince Harry has been the patron of the Rugby Football Union since 2016, after the Queen stepped back from the role.

He continued in the role after stepping back as a senior royal, and has sung the rugby anthem numerous times since childhood.

Although the song was written during the nineteenth century, it was first sung by rugby supporters in the 1980s when two black wingers – Martin Offiah and Chris Oti – became sporting heroes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are now based in Los Angeles after quitting the Royal Family, have been in contact with Black Lives Matter leaders and reportedly want to take part in the movement.

Earlier this month, the duchess recorded a message for graduates of her ex-school in LA after the death of George Floyd which has sparked off world-wide demos.
