PRINCE Harry reportedly banned any nanny wearing a uniform for baby Archie as he didn’t want his life to be like ‘Mary Poppins’.
Meghan Markle went through three nannies while trying to find the perfect person to look after baby Archie.
The Duke of Sussex is said to have ruled out any childminders in uniform after starting their search for a nanny, following the arrival of Archie Harrison in May.
The 34-year-old is said to have compared them to ‘Mary Poppins’, claiming he wants Archie to have a ‘normal’ upbringing.
Royal commentator, Omid Scobie, said: “One of the things that Harry said was, ‘I don’t want a woman in a uniform around my child.
“This isn’t Mary Poppins, we’re going to have a normal household,” he told Yahoo’s The Royal Box.
The dad-of-one snubbed the elite Norland nannies – who look after The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children – in their instantly recognisable uniforms.
Maria Teresa Borrallo, a Norland graduate, looks after Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and is often spotted out and about with the children.
The Norland nannies are required to wear uniforms while on duty, which includes hats and gloves.
But the nanny the Sussex’s have opted for was spotted wearing casual clothes when boarding a private jet for a holiday with the family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be smitten with the latest helper, with Meghan calling her a “godsend”.
A source said: “Meghan is a very hands-on mum but the new nanny is a godsend.
“She is extremely professional, with a number of nannying years under her belt, and has fitted into the family really well.
“She’s great with little Archie and just adores him. Harry and Meghan are very happy with her.”
It was claimed the first nanny was sacked for being ‘unprofessional’, while the second was nights-only.
Royal nannies were traditionally “widows or never married”, according to royal commentator Dickie Arbiter.
He said: “When you become a royal nanny you are for all intents and purposes giving up your own existence.
“The nannies that looked after William and Harry were either widows or never married, the same with the Queen’s nannies.
“So there is as well trying to find the right person who is going to fit the mould, be discreet, who will put your child’s wellbeing at the centre of their existence but be happy to give up a huge part of their own life.”
Princes Harry and William are still close to their childhood nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke, who is said to have played an important role in the young princes’ lives after Princess Diana passed away.
Prince Harry even invited Tiggy, 54, to Archie’s private christening, held in Windsor, which had a guestlist of around 25 people.
She retired when she married in 1999, and Prince Harry is godfather to her son, Fred.
And Meghan Markle defied her haters by jumping on a commercial flight to see Serena Williams in US Open final.
Meanwhile royal fans are gushing over Princess Charlotte's 'hair flip' on her first day of school.
