Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank announced their engagement in January, 2018. When Jack got down on one knee, he presented the Queen’s granddaughter with an exquiste ring and during an engagement interview with the BBC, Jack explained why he chose such a unique jewel to take centre place of the ring.
Jack appeared to have taken inspiration from Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson’s engagement ring when picking out one for his wife-to-be.
The striking ring resembles a flower and contains a jewel surrounded by diamonds which gives a beautfiul pinkish glow.
Jack explained the meaning behind the pink sapphire to The One Show’s former presenter Matt Baker.
He said: “[I] went and found an amazing padparadscha sapphire and didn’t want to do anything until Eugenie signed off on it.
“What’s amazing about it, is it changes colours – that’s what I love it so much – it changes colour from every different angle that you look at it from.
“Which is what I think of Eugenie – that she changes colour and she’s so amazing.”
As for where the couple got engaged, Buckingham Palace revealed: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank.
“Her Royal Highness and Mr Jack Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month.”
Eugenie went onto discuss the special moment, saying: “The lake was so beautiful, it was a special light and I even said: ‘This is an incredible moment’ and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we had been together seven years.
“It was the perfect moment because we knew it was going to end up this way.
“I was over the moon, crying.”
During the same interview, the couple revealed how they met and fell in love.
Eugenie said: “We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24 and we fell in love, and we have the same passions and drive for life.”
Jack added: “We were skiing, at a friends place near Verbier. Love at first sight.”
And Eugenie finished: “[We’re] very excited to spend a lifetime together.”
As for how much Eugenie’s engagement ring is worth, it’s been given a price tag of £100,000.
The padparadshca sapphire is surrounded by a cluster of diamonds.
The jewels are then set onto a delicate Welsh gold band.

The couple wed nine months later at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
And in Feburary 2021, Eugenie and Jack welcomed their first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.
Together they live in Frogmore Cottage, on the Windsor estate – the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
