Sainsbury’s is launching its first ever SO Organic Veg Box, just in time for Organic September. The limited-edition boxes will be available to pick up from tomorrow until October 13, and they are packed with a variety of different vegetables.
Sainsbury’s was the first UK supermarket to launch its own organic range more than 30 years ago.
With 250 items in its range, customers can now pick up a British vegetable box.
Costing £7, the box contains six vegetables including carrots, leeks and potatoes.
The other three vegetables will vary based on the best seasonal produce available at the time.
This can range from broccoli to cauliflower to cabbage.
What’s more, the vegetables are packaged in a fully recyclable cardboard box.
Rebecca Sargent, Product Developer for Produce at Sainsbury’s, said: “As UK supermarket pioneers of organic produce with our owned brand range, we’re really excited to announce our new SO Organic British Veg Box in time for Organic September.
“We want to showcase to our customers the best of our organic offering and highlight a simple way of swapping to organic produce.

The supermarket also has a range of delicious recipes online that customers can follow while using their vegetable box.
The vegetable boxes are first launching into 25 stores nationwide, as part of the trial from September to October.
Following the trial, Sainsbury’s is looking to launch the box into a further 25 stores from the end of September.
This is dependent on the success of the vegetable box trial.
All components in the box will be British and packaged loose besides the broccoli and Cavolo Nero or kale.
Full list of products:
– Carrots (core, in every box)
– Leeks (core, in every box)
– Potatoes (core, in every box)
– Broccoli of cauliflower (one whole head brassica in the box at one time)
– Cavolo Nero (kale used as backup)
– Round courgettes or squash (seasonal swap outs)
In other news, Marks and Spencer recently launched a brand new cake jar, joining its growing range of delicious treats.
The new flavour, which is a lemon meringue, is made up of Madeira sponge cake, lemon buttercream, lemon curd and meringue pieces.
The single-serving cake is packed into a reusable and fully recyclable jar.
Costing £4, customers can find the food item in the cake section of Marks and Spencer.
Taking to social media to share their thoughts on the product, customers were left divided.
One shopper tweeted: “Seriously, how can they charge £4 for one of them?”
Another said: “I love the other flavours, definitely adding this one to my shopping list.”
