As the days grow shorter and the weather becomes warmer, many people are looking for some heartwarming comfort dishes to help warm them up during the chillier seasons.
Luckily, legendary cook Gordon Ramsay has shared one of his delicious “autumn warmer” recipes which he promises will keep you toasty and cozy during the cold fall nights.
Cinnamon eggy bread with quick stewed apples combines both the warmth of cinnamon-spiced bread, but also the tart sweetness of apples.
Not only is it incredibly quick and easy to make, but Gordon Ramsay has admitted that this fall dessert is a childhood favourite of his and he first learned from his mother.
In a video online, Gordon Ramsay says: “I’ve never forgotten, I think I was about six years of age when my mum brought this huge tray of eggy bread to the table. I was like: ‘Wow! Mum we’ve died and gone to heaven.’”

How to make Gordon Ramsay’s cinnamon eggy bread with quick stewed apples
Ingredients
To make the quick stewed apples:
- Two apples which have been peeled, cored and sliced
- Two tablespoons of brown sugar
- Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
- Lemon juice
- Butter for frying
To make the cinnamon eggy bread:
- Four slices of your preferred bread (white or brioche works well)
- Two large eggs
- 60ml (¼ cup) of milk
- Half a tablespoon of cinnamon
- Butter for frying
- Salt for taste
Instructions
In order to prepare the quick stewed apples, melt a small knob of butter over a medium heat on the stove. Add your sliced apples and cook for around two to three minutes until they begin to soften.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon all over the apple and mix well together. Squeeze the lemon juice as well on the apples in order to balance the sweet-tart taste of the mixture.
Continue to cook the apples for another two to three minutes until they are tender and the sugar has created a syrupy sauce. Remove the mixture from the stove and set aside for now.
Now it is time to make the cinnamon eggy bread. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon and salt until you have an eggy batter.
Heat a knob of butter in a frying pan over a medium heat, and sip the bread in the mixture. Make sure both sides and evenly coated, but do not leave the bread in the batter too long as it might become too soggy and you will not be able to lift it out without the bread tearing.
Place the egg in your hot frying pan and cook for around two to three minutes on each side, or until the bread is crispy and golden brown.
Cook up all your cinnamon bread, and then it is ready to put on a plate. Place the warm bread on a plate and spoon the stewed apples on top.
Drizzle any remaining apple syrup on top and sprinkle on some cinnamon or brown sugar, and your toasty autumn dessert is ready to serve.
