Heinz launches the ultimate £3 breakfast ingredient for ketchup lovers

Hash browns are a staple ingredient in a full English breakfast, and they’ve just been given a makeover by Heinz.

The renowned food brand has combined its trademark tomato ketchup with potato treats for the ultimate dish – Heinz Tomato Ketchup filled Hash Browns.

Sauce lovers can now get a double dose of ketchup by dipping the filled hash browns into their favourite Heinz condiments while also enjoying the tangy ketchup inside.

While the hash browns have lost their trademark triangle shape, the flavour and texture are the same – just with an added twist.

Customers eager to give them a try will have to wait one more week to find them in Iceland stores, however, with a launch date of Monday, August 28.

From this date, Britons will find the new Heinz Tomato Ketchup Filled Hash Browns exclusively in Iceland for £3 a pack.

The new recipe is another step from Heinz into frozen meals and filled hash browns following the arrival of Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns in late 2022.

Sophie Higgins, head of growth platform and new ventures at Heinz, said: “When it comes to Tomato Ketchup, it always has to be Heinz. And now when it comes to hash browns, it really has to be Heinz too, whether it’s beanz or ketchup.”

She continued: “We’re so excited to be bringing our Heinz Tomato Ketchup Filled Hash Browns to our filled hash brown family.

“Heinz Tomato Ketchup is truly a global favourite, so it made complete sense to combine it with another classic family favourite, perfect for any mealtime.

“Here at Heinz, we’re continuing in our mission to find exciting ways to combine our beloved varieties with other iconic foods, flavours, and tastes, or even thinking about the food of the future.”

When launched in August last year, the Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns were a hit with Britons, with one fan commenting: “This is a necessity for our next fry-up.”

Another branded the creation “genius” while another suggested: “Stick a couple of these in a sandwich and they could replace the fish finger.”

The frozen Heinz Tomato Ketchup and Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns are low in saturated fat and are suitable for vegetarians.

While £3 is the recommended retail price in Iceland, this may vary between stores.
