Customers who have recently shopped at discount supermarket Lidl must check their cupboards after an urgent recall warning has been issued by the brand. The Food Standers Agency put out a health warning after a product containing potentially harmful allergens that were not declared in English on the label.The product in question is Alpenfest Pretzel Ice Cream as it contains eggs, hazelnut, milk, soya, and wheat, which are not provided in English on the label. The Food Standards Agency also warned that the product “may also contain other nuts, peanuts, and sesame, which are also not provided in English on the label.”
Lidl issues food recall on ‘harmful’ ice cream
This means that the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten, or an allergy to soya, sesame, hazelnuts, peanuts or other nuts.
Those who have the product at home are being told to return it to the store from where it was bought immediately.
Lidl GB is recalling Alpenfest Pretzel Ice Cream 500ml, as some packaging is not in English and the product contains milk, egg, hazelnut, wheat, soya and may contain other nuts such as peanuts and sesame.
LIDL GB is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
On the notices, there will be further information for shoppers on what they should do if they have bought this particular Alpenfest product.
It has been advised that the product can be returned to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
The refund will be given to customers with or without a receipt.
Other Alpenfest products are not affected by the recall.
In other news, recently there was an urgent recall released by Asda, Waitress, and Ocado over deadly listeria bacteria that had contaminated a certain brand of soup.
The Soupologie soups have been recalled after fears emerged of potentially deadly listeria contamination.
Across the nation, Britons have been urged not to eat the three popular flavours of soup – “Classic Tomato with Carrot and Red Pepper Soup”, “Broccoli, Pea and Basil Soup”, and “Peak and Leek Soup”.
Soupologie’s announcement read: “If you have bought Soupologie 5 a day Classic Tomato with Carrot & Red Pepper Soup as detailed above, do not eat it.
“Instead:
• Check if you have bought the affected batch code (03969) and best before date (01/10/ 19) of the Soupologie 5 a day Classic Tomato with Carrot & Red Pepper Soup 600g
• EJ You can do t his by taking a picture of this notice or writing down the batch code (03969) and best before date (01/ 10/ 19) for reference at home.
• Return the product to the store for a full refund (with or without a receipt).”
