Morrisons has been ensuring customers who are struggling to get their essentials in lockdown due to the coronavirus can access the foods they need, by partnering with Deliveroo. The same-day delivery service launched two weeks ago will now be expanded to include more food favourites as well as a selection of wine and beer. It’ll come as good news as social distancing Britons face another Bank Holiday at home.

The additional items available to order via the Deliveroo app will include for the first time red and white wine, beer and lager, all at their usual supermarket prices.
The refreshed list will see 110 items made available for local delivery, up from the original 75 items that the supermarket has been selling via the popular app.
The extended range begins this weekend, just in time for the Bank Holiday which has been moved to Friday this year to celebrate VE Day.
The good news means customers could order their wine or beer and have it delivered within as little as 30 minutes – which will no doubt keep those who are missing their local pub happy.

The move comes in response to the extended lockdown as customers look to enjoy little luxuries while they’re having to stay at home.
Joseph Sutton, Online Director at Morrisons, commented: “When we listen to customers during the lockdown they would like us to supply more treats for the emerging summer and the longer days.
“We are continuing to play our full part in feeding the nation and our partnership with Deliveroo is proving a popular way for customers to receive their food and drink.”
The wider range will also now include ‘summer foods’ such as fish fillets, British beef burgers, fruits and salads.
The supermarket has even added some household essentials, including washing detergent, to make sure customers don’t run out of everyday must-haves.

The Morrisons-Deliveroo service is now available from more than 130 stores across the UK, and customer ordering has been extended to 9:30pm for the majority of the stores, so anyone can get their late night food fix for the weekend.
All prices are exactly as they are in store, with a flat £4.99 delivery fee (unless customers have the Deliveroo Plus service).
The order is then picked at the local store and delivered by a Deliveroo rider quickly and safely.
The food delivery brand has been offering contactless delivery to minimise the spread of the virus, allowing drivers to leave orders on the doorstep rather than dealing directly with the public.

The company has been doing its bit to get food to vulnerable customers as the pandemic continues, joining forces with supermarkets including Morrisons and M&S to help to deliver essentials.
The app is also taking donations in order to deliver meals to key workers in the NHS.
