For those who want to get cracking on their festive planning, Marks and Spencer has announced that customers can already order their Christmas food online. Shoppers have already shared their excitement about what is on offer.
October has only really just begun, but Christmas is in full swing at the major supermarket.
M&S shoppers will be able to book a free collection slot between December 22 – 24, and secure their festive essentials and treats with a £40 deposit.
They will be able to amend their orders with any changes between now and then.
In Northern Ireland, the dates for collection will instead be the December 23 – 24 window.
Collection will be available from the majority of M&S’ UK stores, however, home delivery will not be possible.
So what is in store for M&S customers this Christmas? There are 24 starters, 24 turkey dishes, 29 mains, 15 desserts and cheeses, and seven side dishes.
Just some of the starters on offer include a Hot Cheese Grazing Platter, King Prawn & Scallop Cheese Bake, Shellfish Platter, a Christmas Sausage Roll Garland, huge Pork Pie, the classic Prawn Cocktail and Dry Cured Sugar Pit Ham.
As for the Christmas staple, turkey, these dishes come in various sizes depending on how many you will have sitting at the table this year – and how hungry they are.
The Collection Organic Free-range Pembrokeshire Bronze Whole Turkey is priced between £76 and £85.50 for between six to eight people.
For eight to 10 people, this will set shoppers back between £85.50 and £104.50.
A British Oakham Turkey Crown on The Bone costs between £28.80 – £36.80 for six to eight people, or £49.60 – £57.60 for 12-14.
For shoppers in Northern Ireland, there are four turkey options, priced between £28.80-£100.80 depending on size.
Main courses include both meat and vegetarian options, including – but not limited to – Beef, Pork Crackling, a Three-Fish roast, Gammon, and a Butternut, Almond & Pecan Nut Roast for non-meat-eaters.
There is a whole section online dedicated to vegan and vegetarian Christmas bits including mains, sides and desserts.
Some starters up for grabs include Honey & Mustard Parsnips, Potato Dauphinoise and a British Luxury Garnish Selection complete with pork, cranberry and rosemary stuffing parcels, and pigs in blankets.
Indulgent desserts this Christmas include a 12-month Matured Christmas Pudding, Chocolate Pine Cones and a Get Your Skates on Colin the Caterpillar, among others.
A few M&S shoppers have already expressed delight at the festive food on offer.
@Dpoet58 tweeted: “Mine’s already ordered, I enjoyed last year’s so much, I’ve been waiting to order it.”
@richsheff added: “The best quality food by a mile here in the UK.”
However, @alfiestail questioned the options for people in smaller families or dining alone: “And nothing for two people only larger groups…do we not count??????”
@NowFernandez responded: “I’m only one person. I enjoy the challenge! Plus it lasts me a couple of days. Do it every year!”
For those already purchasing their Christmas gifts, M&S has stocked some indulgent hampers.
On the cheaper side is the Calm Hand Trio for £12.50, Bottled Ale Gift Set for £15, or the Christmas Colin the Caterpillar box for £18, among others.
For a pricier purchase, M&S shoppers can go for the £250 The Joy of Christmas Collection, £500 The Indulgence of Christmas Collection or the astonishing £1,000 The Spirit of Christmas Collection.
This includes 62 festive gifts including sweet treats, savoury snacks and plenty of alcohol.
