Nando’s fans were left with a pang of hunger for several months when the Portuguese restaurant chain closed its doors in March. But now chicken aficionados are ecstatic to hear the dine-in restaurants are cutting prices and offering options for delivery to your home.
The Treasury announced a £4bn tax cut earlier this month to help struggling businesses following the coronavirus pandemic.
Pubs, coffee shops, restaurants and other retail outlets will see a temporary reduction in VAT.
In reaction to this news, several fast-food chains including KFC and McDonald’s have announced a plan to slash prices.
But now Nando’s fans have been delighted to hear the restaurant chain will be following suit.

Nando’s has said it will pass on “100 percent of the benefits” from the tax break to its customers.
The move is designed to help reduce the price of a quarter chicken by 55p.
The VAT cut does not apply to cold takeaway food, such as sandwiches or salads, and alcoholic drinks, but all hot meals ordered for takeaway and eat-in will be included.
As a result, the price of halloumi sticks and dip will fall by 40p to £3.45 while a quarter chicken will be 50p less at £3.70.
The full list of cheaper Nando’s menu options includes:
- Halloumi sticks and dip starter: was £3.95, now £3.45
- ¼ peri-peri chicken on its own: was £4.25, now £3.70
- ¼ peri-peri chicken with two, regular sides: was £7.75, now £6.75
- ½ peri-peri chicken on its own: was £7.70, now £6.75
- ½ peri-peri chicken with two regular sides: was £11.20, now £9.80
- 10 peri-peri chicken wing roulette: was £10.95, now £9.60
- Family platter of two whole chickens and five large sides: was £43.70, now £38.25.

The restaurant chain has said they are working to open more outlets as time passes.
On Twitter Nando’s wrote: “Our teams are working within smaller teams in order to ensure they can practise social distancing while preparing meals safely.
“We’ve lowered the catchment area to help the team get used to these ways of working.
“As confidence grows, as will our catchment area.”
But for anyone who is outside of the delivery catchment area, you can still order to collect it at each outlet.
