Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Waitrose have urged customers to check their cupboards for a selection of food products. More items have been added to the list of products that are possibly unsafe to eat.
Waitrose
Bettine Blanc Goats Cheese
Bettinehoeve has recalled its goats cheese as a precaution.
The products may contain Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause symptoms such as high temperatures, muscle aches, chills and sickness.
The product was sold at Waitrose deli counters between September 4, 2020 and October 29, 2020.
All pack sizes that were bought between those dates are affected.
The Food Standards Agency stated: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Waitrose Duchy Organic Cypriot Halloumi
Another cheese product has been recalled by the supermarket giant.
The item contains milk that is not listed in English on the packaging.
The item is 225 grams with the best before date of May 31, 2021 and batch code BIO B0530A-3 CY0063.
A statement from Waitrose said: “Do not consume if you have an allergy to milk. Package up the item and return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Sainsbury’s
By Sainsbury’s Cooked Mussels
Sainsbury’s shoppers have been asked to check for the supermarket’s own brand mussels.
Salmonella was found in some batches and this can cause sickness if consumed.
The recalled packs are 300 grams with the batch code 2653152 and best before date of September 8, 2021.
Point-of-sale notices have been issued to give customers more information and advise them what to do.
The notices state: “It has been brought to our attention that there may be a small quantity of By Sainsbury’s cooked mussels 300 grams (frozen), with a best before date of 08/09/2021 that may be contaminated with salmonella.
“No other date codes are affected. We are asking customers not to consume this product and to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store when it is safe to do so, where they will receive a full refund. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”
Aldi
Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin’ Chicken
Aldi has extended its recall on a number of the chicken items.
All batches and best before dates of the food products are being recalled as they may contain salmonella.
The Food Standards Agency website reads: “Aldi is extending its recall of Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin’ Chicken to include all batches and all best before dates, because the products may contain salmonella.
“Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.”
Shoppers can return the products to stores for a full refund.
