Following the “devastating news” that Nestle is discontinuing the once-beloved Caramac Bar after 64 years, Britons have been reminiscing over chocolate bars they’d love to see return.
Appliance manufacturers AEG surveyed the British public as part of wider study to determine which discontinued food items were the most missed.
Unsurprisingly, chocolate came out on top.
In particular, Cadbury’s Dream chocolate bar topped the list as the UK’s most sweet treat after being discontinued in 2002.
However, in 2019 the bar was relaunched in the UK as “Cadbury White”, and Dream bars are still available to purchase in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Milky Way Crispy Rolls only stopped being sold last year, but they are the second most missed chocolate bar in the UK – nearly 8,500 people have signed a petition calling for the “beloved chocolate product” to be brought back.
In third place is the Mars Delight Bar, which was much-loved in its four year stint on supermarket shelves from 2004 to 2008. Fifteen years later, fans are still longing for their return.
The Cadbury Spira Bar, consisting of two hollow spiral chocolate fingers, is the fourth chocolate bar Brits want to bring back. Although the bar was discontinued in 2005, a Facebook page titled “Bring Back the Cadbury Spira Chocolate Bar” currently has 35,000 likes.
Mars Planets, a variety of globe-shaped chocolates featuring a caramel centre, a nougat centre, and a crispy biscuit centre were discontinued in 2007 – much to the disappointment of the British public. They are the fifth most popular chocolate bar Brits would like to see make a comeback.
In sixth is the Cadbury Coconut Boost Bar which first hit UK shelves in 1985. Another Cadbury’s confectionery, Starbars, were rebranded to Peanut Boosts in 1989 and a biscuit and caramel version was introduced.

Then in 1994, the Peanut Boost was returned to its original name of a Starbar, the biscuit and caramel version became the Boost that is on shelves today, and the Coconut Boost Bar was sadly discontinued.
Nestle Secret Bar, a birds-nest styled chocolate coating with a mousse centre, is the seventh most longed-for discontinued chocolate bar in the UK. Particularly popular in the 80s and 90s, the chocolate bar was discontinued in 1998.
Texan chocolate bars were manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s, but were discontinued in 1984. The chocolate-covered nougat and caramel bars have been longed for ever since, and were relaunched by Nestle in 2005 as a limited “nostalgia” edition.
Nestle Vice Versa are similar to Galaxy Minstrels except bags are half milk chocolate in a white coating and half white chocolate in a brown coating.
Vice Versas have been relaunched numerous times after being discontinued, most recently in 2012 thanks to their cult following’s demand for their return.
White Maltesers were launched in 2003 and were enjoyed by the British public until they were discontinued in 2014. The white chocolate version of the ever-popular Maltesers are the 10th most popular chocolate item that Brits want to see make a comeback.
There is hope for these chocolates yet. Quality Street Coffee Creams are set to return this Christmas season, with Nestle announcing: “WELCOME BACK TO THE STREET, COFFEE CREME! YOU ASKED, WE LISTENED.”
Cadbury’s Wispa Bars were initially discontinued in 2003, but after public clamour for their re-release, they returned for a “limited period” in 2007.
However, in 2008, they were fully reintroduced to UK and Irish shops thanks to their popularity – where they remain on sale today.
