Holiday Drinks 101
With the holiday season upon us and chilly weather in full force, the craving for a warm, creamy beverage from Starbucks is bound to kick in at some point. But if you’re concerned about your waistline, use this handy guide to see what your smartest choices are. The new Irish Cream Cold Brew ranks the lowest with just 200 calories, and the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Latte is on the opposite end of the spectrum with 510 calories and 72g of sugar (that’s 18 teaspoons or just over ⅓ cup!).
Each calorie, sugar and fat count is for a 16 oz. grande size made with 2 percent milk and whipped cream (if applicable). The standard recipe for some drinks can call for up to eight pumps of flavored syrup — so to reduce the sugar, ask your barista to use only 1-2 pumps when you order. Oh, and skip the whipped cream.
