So, as it’s both International Coffee Day (October 1) and a Friday, how about we put the two together?
Booze and coffee are a natural pairing.
You’ve likely already sipped on espresso martinis, so will know the joys of the caffeine and alcohol combo, but perhaps it’s time to expand your beverage horizons.
To help you on this important journey, here are three coffee cocktail recipes to try today (and on any other day you fancy).
Boozy espresso tonic
Sounds weird, we know, but stick with us. The traditional espresso tonic is booze-free – just espresso and tonic water.
But if you add some gin, voila: you’ve got a cocktail.
Ingredients:
- Tonic water
- A shot of fresh espresso
- A shot of gin
- Sugar syrup
Method:
Cold brew old fashioned
Pretend you’re in Mad Men, when in fact you’re just feeling snoozy and need a pick-up.
Ingredients:
- 20ml of Tia Maria
- 40ml of Bourbon
- 20ml of cold brew coffee
- An orange
Method:
Biscoff espresso martini
For those who like their drinks to double as dessert.
Ingredients:
- One shot of vodka – try Smirnoff’s espresso vodka
- One shot of Tia Maria
- Spoonful of Lotus Biscoff sauce or spread
- Biscoff biscuits
