Texpats in Denver, rejoice: 2020 finally (maybe) has a gift in store for you between two buns.
Whataburger — which, for Coloradans who don’t know, is Texan vernacular for “cult-favorite fast food” — just announced the launch of its food truck, “a state-of-the-art masterpiece in orange and white,” according to the company’s release.
The 36-foot mobile will have the burger-making capacity of a regular Whataburger retail store. What exactly is a Whataburger?
Here’s how my colleague Tiney Ricciardi — herself a recent transplant from the land of toast and brisket — describes it:
“Whataburger is everything you want from a fast-food burger and fries without extra grease and guilt. Because many locations are open 24 hours, it makes a perfect beer sponge whenever you’re craving it. It’s a meal that’s as delicious as it is humble, much like Texas, which I’ll add is the greatest state in the nation.”
Easy, Texas.
Because this news is too good for 2020, the truck will embark on a multi-state tour in 2021, stopping first in Whataburger’s existing 10 states across the southern United States. (None of which are Colorado.)
But there’s hope for Colorado: “As the brand expands into new markets, the truck will give new locations and fans a taste of what’s coming,” the company says.
The Denver Post has reached out to Whataburger and is awaiting response with the expected dates and Colorado stops on its world tour.
