Cooking a roast chicken can be time-consuming, plus with it taking up the oven, there isn’t much room for the rest of your trimmings.
One woman has come up with a solution – cooking it in the air fryer.
An air fryer is an appliance that circulates hot air at high speed to crisp things up without using oil.
Particularly popular in Australia right now, you can easily pick up the appliances here as well.
For this recipe, she bought a whole chicken and then marinated it in hot sauce, oregano, garlic, and black pepper for a few hours.
Once it had absorbed the flavour, she put in the air fryer and cooked it at 135C for one and a half hours.
Of course, when cooking chicken, times vary depending on its weight.
She posted in Air Fryer Tips and Recipes Facebook group and said:’Because it was my first try, I decided to do it in slow heat to make sure it was well cooked. i
‘I tied the wings and legs with butcher’s twine. I flipped the chicken after half way of the [cooking] time.’
She said she was impressed with the results as the meat was ‘juicy and succulent’.
People on the group were impressed with the method.
‘That looks absolutely delicious,’ one wrote.
While another added ‘Beautiful colour.’
You can also use the appliance to create dessert, like this delicious pavlova, which cooks in 20 minutes.
The technique makes it crisp on the outside but still fluffy inside.
